A Bit About Me
I’m a mother of five, with four biological children and one stepchild. My own experiences with pregnancy and birth led me to look more closely at how different models of care shape outcomes for families.
I had my first baby with an OB-GYN, and my next three with a midwife. Experiencing these differences firsthand sparked a deeper interest in how care during pregnancy and birth can influence not only the immediate experience, but long-term development for children and families.
Through my academic and professional work, I’ve explored the connections between childbirth, infant development, childhood, and even adult outcomes. Today, I share this knowledge to help families make informed decisions that feel right for them.
What Makes My Work Different Is The Scope
Many professionals focus on a single stage. My work spans from preconception through early childhood, and includes research focused on Black maternal health and contributions to initiatives like The Black Birth Project.
As a professor of Early Childhood Education, I bring a deeper understanding of child development beyond infancy, alongside experience in maternal health spaces.
At the core of my work is helping people feel more confident navigating systems that can often feel overwhelming, and ensuring they have the information and support they need at every stage.
